Twitter is great, but unfortunately there's always that spoilt kid who wants to ruin the experience for everyone else. If you've used Twitter for more than a couple of days, I'm certain your experience will have been marred by the marketers, spammers and general fools who are desperate to make a quick buck off the rest of us.
My solution? ... 10 instant Follower #FAILS awarded as follows.....
| FAIL #1 |
Anyone who's got a profile picture of someone jumping for joy. They've got such a great life that you'll want to click on their links right? #FAIL. It gets a double fail if the photo is set on a beach, lake or mountain to enhance lifestyle envy in readers. And guess what this link was for? Yup, another Get-Rich-Quick Scheme. This particular guy has auto posted almost 9000 spams in 5 weeks - one every 5 minutes of every hour of every day.
|
| FAIL #2 |
Twitterers with "Cash", "Success", "MLM", "Wealth" or anything else money related in their usernames... I mean really? Social media at it's most grasping. |
| FAIL #3 |
Profiles with the classic "2 friends with their arms around each others shoulders" photo. Yeah right, I think it's supposed to signify a good friendly feeling towards them while they spam you with affiliate links. Extra fail points for the beach setting.
|
| FAIL #4 |
Multiple profile feinds who're using so many profiles to spam us all with their rubbish that you can't keep track of them. Some are even so lacking in imagination that they use the same name and photo for all of their "profiles".

Step forward "Dave Perry" AKA @_DavePerry, @DavePerryLabs, @DPerryOnline, @Dave_P46, @_DavesLab, @DavePerryOnline, @Perrys_eTools, @DavePerrysLab, @DavePerryReview, @eDavePerry, @DavePOnline etc etc etc. This guy is the worst spammer I've found so far on Twitter, and apart from having AT LEAST 20+ profiles, he also has a face only a mother could love.
Proof? Sure: at least 15 Perry profiles all sending out the same spam message can be seen at Bit.ly stats here.

| FAIL #5 |
Anyone who sends you a Sales Link Auto DM the minute they get followed. I mean really, are things likely to get any better if you keep following them? |
| FAIL #6 |
People who "offer" you a link to help you get 1000s of followers in 5 minutes when they've got 675 people following their own profile. Hmmm. Follower FAIL #6. |
| FAIL #7 |
People sending out super weird sales DMs... check this one out... I could understand the fake sexy girl photo if it was a bondage site or a lap-dancer's profile, but with a name like "Find Mortgages"? Let's not even go there when it comes to the message.....
|
| FAIL #8 |
Profiles that have nothing but "inspirational" quotes. It's almost always because they''ve got nothing to say other than repeating quotes and spamming you with sales links. |
| FAIL #9 |
Profile photos showing big piles of CASH. A clear variation on the Follower FAIL #2. This one's a double FAIL for the quotation and a triple FAIL through the cunning use of the word "Cash" in the name just to hammer home the message... Mmmmmm nice. Maybe I'll get rich if I just click on....
|
| FAIL #10 |
And finally... people that are so desperate to make cash off you that they don't even disguise that it's a Clickbank affiliate link they're spamming you with ... I mean, at least they could have the decency to disguise it with a short URL and then tell you how great the site was....
